this is unbelievable...just heard from a friend that one of the nicest teachers at Earl Haig passed away last night from a sudden heart attack. I'm at a lost for words because while I had him, Mr. Sutherland really had an impact on me and I was sad to say goodbye not only to the school but to teachers like him. Although he did little teaching and more page flipping through the textbook telling us what we were "going to go through", resulting in us learning everything on our own, he was a great person and I am forever grateful for his presence in my life. He was one of the few teachers I look back on with fond persistent memories and I know he will be missed. I cried when I read his yearbook comment to me in grade 12 and I cry now for the world's great loss. RIP Mr. Sutherland, you will always be remembered...my biggest regret was not following up on my promise to visit you after high school... |
